WHAT IT IS:
• Standardized, fully researched extract of earthworm enzymes

WHY YOU NEED IT:
• Important for patients who need natural blood thinning
• Targets patients looking for healthy levels of fibrinogen, C-reactive protein, and blood thickness (viscosity)
• Good for patients who cannot take prescription anti-coagulation medication

HOW IT HELPS:
Bolouke (pronounced bo-lo’-k) is a standardized extract of lumbrokinase which is derived from earthworms. Powdered earthworms have been used to treat circulatory diseases in Traditional Chinese Medicine for over two thousand years. Modern research has isolated the active ingredient of earthworm powder, lumbrokinase.

Lumbrokinase is an enzyme that works on blood thickness, inflammation, and coagulation. Many clinical studies have been conducted using the specific extract and potency found in Bolouke, making it the premier, trusted brand of lumbrokinase.

Research trials have successfully used lumbrokinase with patients who are also taking blood thinners such as aspirin, heparin, and warfarin. As lumbrokinase has been shown to affect platelet adhesion molecules, Bolouke should not be taken by patients on Plavix or Ticlid because of these prescription drugs’ similar mechanism of action.

The effect of Bolouke on blood parameters can be tested by tracking lab testing including: sedimentation rate, fibrinogen, HS C-reactive protein, D-Dimer, Fibrin Degradation Products, anti-plasmin, prothrombin fragment 1+2, thrombin/antithrombin complex, and soluble fibrin monomer levels.

In a clinical trial with 1560 patients, side effects of Bolouke occurred in less than two percent of patients and included 1.15% diarrhea and nausea, 0.58% itching, and 0.19% rash. No excessive bleeding or complications were recorded.

Scientists believe that Bolouke can support patients who need therapeutically ‘thinned’ blood, and therefore, Bolouke should not be taken one week prior to surgery and should not be restarted after surgery until directed by a healthcare professional. Bolouke should not be taken by any patient with active bleeding (external or internal) or recent trauma until directed by a healthcare professional.
